The soul is one of those nebulous words that is not easily defined.
Our soul is the unique part of us, it is our invisible thumbprint, no two are alike. It is who God created us to be with our unique talents, personalities, gifts, experiences and expressions. It is the core of our being. It is also unexplainable... much like the wind. We understand what direction the wind is coming from, we see the effects of the wind, but we cannot contain it.
The soul is existing in our physical body yet it is not limited by it. It will continue long after our bodies have ceased to exist. The soul has communion with God, as well as connection to people.
The hebrew word for soul is "nephesh" and its literal definition is "that which breathes". This implies inhaling and exhaling. In and out. Inspiration and expiration. A soul stays healthy through a kind of breathing. Our souls need to be fed and expressed. Restoration is necessary when the soul becomes tired and weak. We know what that feels like even if we don't know why. You can restore your soul. It isn't easy but it begins with an intentional quest to find both our unique expression and our unique feeding style.
